Gousto Recipe Boxes

What is Gousto?

Gousto is a recipe box service that simplifies meal planning by providing the required recipes and ingredients, and delivering it direct to your door. By supplying only the quantities required for each dish, services like Gousto can also help to reduce food waste. To order from Gousto you first need to subscribe, but there is no long-term contract. Users can pause the service indefinitely within their account on the website, or choose to skip their next delivery. Gousto prides itself on the quality of its ingredients and has tough vetting processes in place for potential suppliers. All their meat is 100% British to reduce food miles and is completely traceable. Fish is responsibly sourced and any eggs used are free range. Only the freshest possible vegetables are used, including many seasonal varieties. For dairy products, any cheese with PDO status is sourced from the country of origin; yoghurt is from Yeo Valley in Somerset and organic.  The company also provides itself on sustainability, pledging to reduce plastic by 50% before the end of 2019. Initiatives to achieve this include using cardboard punnets, loose potatoes, eliminating black plastic and reducing the size of plastic sachets.

How Does Gousto Work?

Gousto allows you to select from a range of 40+ recipes per week, including ten minute meals, a range of healthier options and family favourites. Customers can choose to order 2, 3 or 4 recipes per week, with servings for 2 – 4 people. If you want recipes for more than 4 days a week, there is also an option to order extra one-off boxes.

All of the required ingredients for the chosen recipes are then delivered in a box by Gousto to your door. Gousto deliver 7 days per week and customers are able to choose a preferred day.

Recipe cards include detailed instructions for preparing your meals, including a detailed macro breakdown listing calories, carbs, fat and protein.

Gousto Meal Plans

Gousto offers 2 different types of recipe boxes for its subscribers:
  1. Two-Person box – Delicious meals for 2 adults.
  2. Family box – Enticing meals for 2 adults and 2-3 children.
Both types of boxes allow you to select 2, 3 or 4 different recipes out of the aforementioned range of 40+ recipes.  Because subscribers select their own menu, there is no need to select a specific type of box to account for any dietary requirements (vegetarian, pescatarian, gluten free, etc.). The menu section on the website clearly categorises all of the available recipes. The categories include:
  • 10-Minute Meals
  • Dairy-Free
  • Everyday Favourites
  • Fish
  • Gluten-Free
  • Healthy Choices
  • Meat (Chicken, Beef and Pork)
  • Plant-Based
  • Vegetarian

Is Gousto’s Packaging Recyclable?

Gousto’s cardboard comes from sustainable sources and can be easily recycled. The same is true of the recipe cards, which are also printed by the world’s first printer to go beyond carbon neutral.

The Icepacks can be reused, but if opened and drained will not be universally recyclable. The same is true of the plastic used on the wool insulation liners; the wool itself is compostable and biodegradable. Pots and tins should be recyclable in most parts of the UK.
