Feast Box Review

A relatively new entrant to the market, Feast Box was born out of a love of authentic, flavourful food. It is the sister company of Red Rickshaw, the largest online Asian supermarket in the UK, but dishes on the menu come from every corner of the globe.

What is Feast Box?

Far too often in life, cooking at home becomes a chore. Work and family commitments get in the way, and we end up making the same types of meals, week after week, with little to no diversity. This is a reality that Feast Box founder, Jyoti Patel, experienced herself after becoming a mother, and it is exactly the type of culinary tedium that this recipe box service is designed to challenge.

Feast Box take the effort out of culinary experimentation by putting in the hours to source rare ingredients and exciting recipes from around the world. All the dishes come with easy to follow, step-by-step instructions, and can be prepared in your own kitchen with everyday pans and utensils. So, whether you’re an experienced chef or a complete novice, you’ll still be able to cook delicious meals with Feast Box, no matter how unfamiliar you may be with the ingredients.

How Does Feast Box Work?

To get started with Feast Box, just head to the website and start your journey by selecting your preferred meals from the choice of twelve that are available each week.

Customers can choose a maximum of four meals, to serve two or four people, and can also select ‘add-ons’, such as drinks and sides, which are paired with the individual meal choices.

Once you’ve chosen your dishes, you’ll be asked for your delivery details and email/password to setup your online account. This will allow you to change your meal preferences for future orders, in addition to pausing or cancelling the service if you so wish. After this, you’ll be asked to pay via the secure online gateway and will receive your first delivery on a date of your choosing.

All the pre-measured ingredients you need for your meals – including spices – will be delivered in a box to your door, alongside the recipe cards. The weekly menu is changed every Sunday, at which point you’ll be able to log in and choose the meals for your next delivery.

Feast Box Meal Plans

Unlike other recipe box providers, Feast Box does not have different types of boxes available. There isn’t, for example, a ‘veggie’ or ‘vegan’ box you can select.

You just select the meals you want in your box (minimum two, maximum four), whether you’re cooking for two or four people and any desired add-ons.

If you are in fact vegetarian or vegan then you can just select the options that are suitable for you.

How Much Does Feast Box Cost?

The costs of meals vary, depending on the ingredients used. A typical weekly range is between £5 – £10 per portion. Expect to pay more for things like seafood and less for veg-heavy, vegan meals.

Prices scale evenly, so if you’re cooking for four people, you will pay four times the per portion price listed. Unlike other services, there is no per portion discount offered on larger orders.

Delivery is free on all orders.

Feast Box FAQs

Feast Box is currently able to deliver to anywhere on the UK mainland, including the Scottish Highlands and Northern Ireland. Unfortunately, they are not able to delivery to the Isle of Man, Channel Islands or Isles of Scilly.

When Does Feast Box deliver?

Feast Box delivers Tuesday – Friday each week, between the hours of 9am and 6pm. Customers will receive a text message in the morning on the day of their delivery, which will provide a one hour time slot.

If you’re not in, then your Feast Box will be left in a nominated safe place. The box is insulated, so the ingredients will stay fresh for at least 48 hours.

Can You Recycle The Packaging From Feast Box?

The vast majority of Feast Box packaging can be recycled, aside from the packaging for some harder to source ingredients. In these instances, it may not be possible to find a provider using more sustainable packaging.

The insulation used by Feast Box is made from offcuts from the cotton and denim industry, and you can recycle the outer sleeve. The icepacks can also be recycled or reused.

Does Feast Box Offer A Box For One Person?

Currently Feast Box only offers boxes for two – four people. But there’s nothing stopping you ordering a box for two and then saving an extra portion of your chosen meals for another time.

Is Feast Box Suitable for Vegans and Vegetarians?

Feast Box guarantees to have at least four vegan recipes on the menu each week, in addition to other vegetarian options. These are clearly labelled on the recipe images.

Is Feast Box Gluten-Free?

Feast Box does not guarantee that recipes are completely gluten-free due to its storage and packaging processes. Ingredient and nutritional information is listed on the individual recipes, allowing customers to avoid all but trace amounts (which may be acceptable for some).

Is Feast Box Easy to Cancel?

Yes. Customers can pause or cancel deliveries online at any time. You can also change to a fortnightly or monthly subscription if you’d rather not have a box every week. Bear in mind you’ll need to cancel your next box four days before the delivery date (which you will be reminded about via email).

What Are Feast Box 'Add-ons'?

Feast Box add-ons are a selection of optional extras, such as sides and drinks, which complement the meals on the weekly menu.
